I think it is notable that Gurdjieff seems to not speak directly about the ego, which runs so prominent in most contemporary and Eastern spiritual traditions. However, I feel these comments on 'Kundalini' being a form of hypnosis is reflective of others' views on the ego. Otherwise, Gurdjieff focusses on the evils of egoic habits, traits, behaviors, rather than the ego, as a thing. Although, I feel that Kundabuffer can be seen as an analog for the ego, though differently from how most think about the ego.
